Britnee J. Scott
About
(b.1988)Graffiti-folk artist Britnee Scott brings vibrancy and bold color to contemporary culture. Her work explores race, politics, and urban life, weaving multiple narratives with a style shaped by bold lines and dynamic composition. Paying homage to artists like Elizabeth Catlett, Aminah Robinson, Robert Colescott, and Harlem Renaissance figures such as Faith Ringgold and Lois Mailou Jones, Britnee connects historical movements with modern expression.
A Southeast Washington, D.C. native, Britnee has showcased her art nationwide. In 2022, she collaborated with the Washington Commanders to design their first HBCU rally towel and displayed her work at FedEx Field Stadium. Her first solo show, Street Code (2023, Homme Gallery, D.C.), reflected her experiences growing up in an urban community.
Britnee’s mission is to “be the change she wishes to see in the world,” using her art to challenge perceptions of Southeast D.C. and advocate for her community and culture. She draws inspiration from studying world-wide artists and visiting museums, which she describes as a form of self-care that sparks reflection and creativity.
